«أفعى نهر أبو علي» هو العرض الأول ضمن إقامة الاستوديو للفنان راشد بشناطي، وتطوّر تحت إشراف الدكتور وليد دكروب.

بيعيد المشروع إحياء فن مسرح الظل التقليدي بطرابلس، وهو فن كان مزدهر بالمدينة واختفى إلى حد كبير من حياتها الثقافية، من خلال جمع الحكايات الشعبية، والتاريخ الشفهي، والسرديات المهمّشة.

بتدور الحكاية حول أسطورة منسية عن أفعى قديمة يُقال إنها عايشة بالنهر ومختبئة تحت القلعة. وبيجمع العرض بين تحريك الدمى، والصوت المعاصر، وتصميم المساحة، ليفتح مجال للتفكير بعلاقة طرابلس بالمَيّ، والأسطورة، والذاكرة الجماعية.

A contemporary performance and work-in-progress presentation exploring forgotten local folk tales through shadow theater, visual design, and live performance.

The Snake of Abu Ali River is the debut studio residency performance by artist Rached Bchennaty, developed under the mentorship of Dr. Walid Dakroub. The project revives the traditional art of shadow theater in Tripoli, a once-thriving medium that largely disappeared from the city's cultural life, by weaving together folk tales, oral histories, and marginalized narratives. Centered around the forgotten legend of an ancient snake said to live in the river and hide beneath the citadel, the multidisciplinary performance blends puppet manipulation, contemporary sound, and spatial design to open a space for reflection on Tripoli's relationship with water, myth, and collective memory.
