The Dance Of Enkidu On The Collapsing Mountain
The Dance Of Enkidu On The Collapsing Mountain
The two epic heroes embark on a journey of adventure in their quest for glory and immortality, as this duo’s path takes them from conflict to alliance, then to loss and collapse “The Dance of Enkidu on the Collapsing Mountain” is a contemporary dance performance that reframes the Epic of Gilgamesh, reimagining Gilgamesh and Enkidu through a dabke dancer and a zajal poet.
The work is based on the intersection of contemporary dance and electronic music with dabke and zajal, through a living archive of artistic productions and personal experiences shaped by the Lebanese civil war.
The stage becomes a space for play and experimentation, where inherited legacies are deconstructed and fragility and strength coexist.
This project explores how heroism and illusory victories are embodied in movement, sound, and poetry, and raises questions about individual choices in contexts of war and danger, and the ability to survive the narratives of systems that turn individuals into fuel for conflict.
